If We Were Having Coffee… 3/3/19

On our coffee date today, we are once again dealing with cold weather and snow. I know, winter just doesn’t seem to know when to let go this year. We can also have a slice of cake with our hot beverages today because… today is my birthday! It has been a great day for me. I’ve stayed inside out of the snow and watched spring training baseball (oh, how I wish I was in sunny, warm Jupiter, Florida!) and Netflix. An introvert’s dream!

We went out (as a family) last night for dinner for my birthday. I had an awesome steak. My kids actually got along for a few hours. We listened to 80s music in the car. I sang. Loud. The kids looked at me like I had three heads but I think they secretly enjoyed it. They gave me a ginormous bag of Cadbury mini-eggs as a gift. Best gift ever.

We’ve had a busy few weeks. Our ski trip to Wisconsin was successful and so much fun. My younger daughter tried skiing – I am so proud of her – but ultimately opted to spend her weekend tubing. She had a blast. My older daughter has become quite a skilled skier. She took on the most advanced slope and didn’t fall once. She also met a cute boy on the slopes and spent the ride home messaging him. Teenage parenting, y’all… it’s not for the faint of heart.

Since we’ve been home, it has been a blur of girl scout cookie sales, illness, and school snow days. Now that we are officially in March, I’m hoping the weather settles. We’ve had way more snow and freezing rain than we are used to.

Catch me up. What would you tell me if we were having coffee?

And stop in to grab a cup with the other Weekend Coffee Share participants here. Thanks to our host, Eclectic Alli!

    1. Forgot to add – I have been listening to “First Wave” on Sirius a lot lately – all of the late 70s and 80s new wave. Can’t take it all day, but I can see why you were singing to the 80s tunes.

  1. Happy Birthday to you! Sounds like you had a great day, and a great trip! YAY!

The weather is getting on my nerves, mostly because my work seems to think I should get there no matter what’s going on outside. I’m all, NO. 🙂

    1. Thank you! Work can be jerky when it comes to the bad weather. I always feel obligated to get to work because I have patients. But in really bad conditions, my work does understand if I can’t make it in. I am just so totally over this winter. It really needs to stop.

  2. Hi Aime, am I too late for a quick sip of something warm with you? I almost forgot to circle back for the final round of coffee shares and am glad for the reminder I sorta tripped over. Yes – March is here and winter has only begun to let go – but our trees are blooming and the soaking rain has let up some. With one more storm coming tomorrow night, I think and hope it’s the last one for the year. This year, a town about an hour away, on the Calif. Russian River, flooded so badly the whole town was cut off from the outside world except for a few military vehicles designed for deep water passages. The lucky places got only 4 feet of water in their buildings so the results are going to be pretty bad. A lot of the impacted homes are not housing the richest folks. Many are on fixed incomes and are elderly so churches are pitching in to help where we can.

Despite the rain and storms, February was a great month for my blog and I. I had great traffic and numbers of story reads. I still feel like a new blogger, but with about a year and a half of earnest effort, I’ve seen enough traffic to begin to think I may yet master this beast.

Lot of folks have told me they like my stories, laughed out loud, etc. which makes it so much more fun to produce and share them.

You brought back some good memories of Wisconsin – thanks for that. Lovely place, but the winters would keep my wife from ever agreeing to move there.

I’m glad you’re becoming a part of our virtual coffee club. There’s several great folks here.

    All the best.

    1. Never too late, Gary! I’m glad that I brought some good memories of Wisconsin to you. I’ve only been twice but I really have enjoyed my time there. Not sure I would want to spend the whole winter there, though, so I understand your wife. Sounds like a great month for your blog! It is always nice when traffic picks up and you can engage with readers.

I used to be a regular with the coffee share group and then I took some time off. I am enjoying being back, it is a great group.
